![]() This programme helps children to practice the skills needed in mathematics, reading, spelling and writing at their level. To log in use the school user name and password, which can be found in your child's Reading Diary Year 1-3 or in the front of their homework notebook Years 4-6. To use the programme on an iPad you will first need to download the free app "Rover" then access Sunshine Online through the internet. Over the holidays it would be beneficial for students who need extra reading milage to use this programme a couple of times a week so they don't slip in their reading over the holidays. Once logged on, go to the appropriate Learner Space. The level below where your child is currently reading is a good place to start. The reading should be easy not a struggle as the intention is to build confidence and fluency. The reading should be easy for the child to manage on their own. Children can use the speaker to help them on the first reading. The more times they read the same book, the more confident they will become. Children should be given the choice of which books they read. This process is similar to the Rainbow Reading programme where children have support with reading a story then do repeated readings to develop fluency, followed by activities related to the story to aid in spelling or comprehension. If the spelling activities at this reading level are too difficult, go back a level. There is also a chance for improving writing using ideas from the book they have just read. |
