Principal's Message 31st May 2017
Written by Merle Campbell
Dear Parents,
PPPs
Cockle Bay School will shortly be conducting their mid-year reporting, namely, PPPs, Pupil Progress Presentations (29 June). These are structured presentations led by your child, whereby they will outline in some detail their progress to date. They will share their learning goals and next steps, and use their work in a variety of forms to demonstrate progress.
Each PPP is planned for 20 minutes, with more than one family in the classroom at a time. This approach has proven to be successful, making the child feel more comfortable by creating a less formal atmosphere.
This is a special opportunity set aside for your child to share their learning with you therefore, siblings are most welcome to wait in the Lomas Library during PPPs. The pupils have devoted considerable work and effort so that they are confident with their 2017 learning journey thus far. As such, it is very important that on the day of the presentation they have someone to present to. If you, or another delegated family member are unavailable to attend, please let us know so that one of our Senior Leadership team members can ‘act as the parent’.
Booking information will be sent home shortly.

Traffic Around The School
We have continued concerns about driving and parking around the school, which have been reported to the Police and also to Travelwise parking wardens.
Particular concerns are:
• Stopping on yellow dotted lines
• Parking (leaving your vehicle) in the 'Kiss'nGo' and P2 areas
• Turning right into the 'Kiss'nGo'
• Parking on the footpath and three point turns which block traffic flow
The school may be monitored and infringement notices may be issued.
We know that there is significant congestion around the school at drop off and collection times and seek your patience and co-operation when driving and parking. A good solution is to allow children to walk to school, preferably with you or in groups. This is a chance to model safe walking practices and to discuss what to do if they feel unsafe.

Visitors To The School
It is important that all visitors to the school report to the office first, and get issued with a visitor's badge. Please don't be offended if you are in the playground at interval or lunchtime and a staff member approaches you to ask if you are wearing a badge. It is important that we know who is in the school at any given time.
Thank you for your anticipated understanding.

The Junior Production is almost upon us. It is an exciting event in the life of the school and we are all very much looking forward to seeing our younger children perform. A big thank you goes to all parents for their support in preparation. There are all sorts of 'wondrous props' being carried into the school by hard working parents, and I know you have all been busy planning costumes and listening to lines! A big thanks goes to all staff involved and of course Kirsten, for leading the event. We have a very excited bunch of Year 1 - 3 children ready to show their talent starting tomorrow night! Good news if you want more tickets, there will be door sales. There is no limit to how many tickets you purchase now. Show 1 for both casts is the show selling out fastest.
Kind regards
