Cockle Bay School will shortly be conducting their mid-year reporting,
namely, PPPs, Pupil Progress Presentations. These are structured
presentations led by your child, whereby they will outline in some
detail their progress to date. They will share their learning goals and
next steps, and use their work in a variety of forms to demonstrate
progress. We believe that children who take responsibility for their own
learning and can talk about their continued progress are more engaged
in their schooling. Therefore, learning outcomes are shared with the
children and this enables them to take ownership of their learning and
target their needs as well as report on their own progress.
Each PPP
is planned for 20 minutes, with more than one family in the classroom
at a time. This approach has proven to be successful, making the child
feel more comfortable by creating a less formal atmosphere.
During
the course of the presentations, please feel free to ask your child
questions or seek clari cation, without upsetting the continuity of the
process.
This is a special opportunity set aside for your child to
share their learning with you therefore, siblings are most welcome to
wait in the Lomas Library during PPPs. The pupils have devoted
considerable work and effort so that they are con dent with their 2017
learning journey thus far. As such, it is very important that on the day
of the presentation they have someone to present to. If you, or another
delegated family member are unavailable to attend, please let us know
so that one of our Senior Leadership team members can ‘act as the
parent’.

The Junior Production
A huge congratulations to our students and all those involved in the
Junior Production, “Pirates and Mermaids”. It was a wonderful display of
our Cockle Bay talent and I hope everyone enjoyed the shows as much as I
did. My thanks to the indomitable Kirsten Bell and her performing arts
team, our patient teaching staff and all the dedicated parents helpers,
without whom the production would not have been the success that it was.
Shoe Bank
Do you have any kids shoes that are no longer needed but still have
some life left in them? Please don’t throw them out!! We would love to
give them to kids who could use them. Children at Point England School
in Panmure have been identified as having no shoes to wear this winter
and beyond. Let’s show them some Cockle Bay love and give them our
quality ‘leftovers’.
How: Please drop off your good, used (and
clean please!!) shoes to our collection bin. We welcome any school or
other shoes for ages 5 till 12 years. To be dropped off in the office by the trophy cabinet, in the collection box.
When: The Week of the 12 - 16 June
Bonus: Every bag of shoes donated gets you in the draw to win a Scholastic book pack.
Thank you for your help in spreading some Cockle Bay joy! Your Year 6 Shoe Team
