Just like that we are halfway through 2017, without it being a Carnival year, we have a lot of fundraising to do in order to reach our expected yearly donation we pass on to the BOT. We do have the usual smaller things planned, along with our biggest fundraiser later this year, Fun Run. In the meantime we have decided, rather than throw in one more big one, we are going ahead with our new Hunger Busters initiative that was a great success last Friday.

Hunger Busters
Wow, what a fantastic result at our very first Hunger Busters! Over 1000 items were sold, with a profit of $457, to some very hungry kids! Thanks so much to all the parents and grandparents who baked or bought the yummy snacks for sale and to the parent helpers on the stand. And of course a big thank you to our amazing Cockle Bay kids who waited patiently to buy every single item of food we had!
Hunger Busters will be back again Friday 7th July and with a few tweaks it will be better than ever.
If you would like to donate snacks, either homemade or store bought please email Karen at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

The PTN is pleased to announce a change in dates (and season) for the Carnival next year. We can never predict fine weather, but are changing the date in the hope for warmer weather and a more summery atmosphere. We have also learnt that the majority of East Auckland schools hold their galas toward the end of the year. Therefore, we are changing our date from September to 24 MARCH 2018.
Being parents ourselves, we do realise Term 1 is full of costs, so are writing now to let you know well in advance. Rather than cram all of our collections, class competitions/races and requests for donations into Term 1, we are going to spread it across the year and into next in a small way - each term we will add a Carnival Mufti Day. We may ask for a gold coin donation or perhaps an item we require. This will save too many requests in Term 1.

Our first mufti day is coming up on the last day of school for Term 2, 7 July. It has a theme..... pyjamas! Wear your pyjamas and bring a gold coin to help you remember that there are 260 sleeps until Carnival!

So just once a term, one extra mufti day = 3 in total for 2017.
We will be seeking sponsorship etc closer to Term 4. The Carnival is such a highlight of being a kid at Cockle Bay School and we look forward to sharing it with you, even year 6s leaving Cockle Bay, so many come back for this event! All money raised is going toward our hall extension project.

NEXT PTN MEETING : 23 AUGUST, ONLY ONE FOR TERM 3
