Dear Parents, Term 3 has flown by, with children at CBS engaged in a multitude of opportunities for rich learning. Thanks to all parents who have so willingly and generously supported what we do. Next term promises to be even busier. We wish you all a restful holiday and a chance to get over the many illnesses of winter. If you are using the school grounds over the holidays, please let us know of any property damage that requires urgent attention. I can be contacted on 021 2433687 and other contact details are on the school website. For safety reasons, it is important that children stay off the playground equipment that is currently cordoned off. 2018 Class Placement Forms
Most schools organise their classes so that there is a
range of abilities in every class, a balance of genders and
ethnicities, and students with special needs (such as academic, health,
compatability with peers / teacher and behaviour) are placed carefully
across each year level. New Teacher - Room 23 We welcome Miss Hayley Brass to Room 23 who takes over from Mrs Bridgette Parsons, currently on maternity leave. School Uniforms As the end of winter approaches, it is time to start thinking about summer uniforms. These will be phased in between the school holiday break and Labour Weekend. All students are expected to be wearing the full summer uniform from Labour Weekend onward. Many thanks for your anticipated cooperation in preparing your children to wear summer uniforms correctly. If you are purchasing new items in the holidays, please check on our website that you are purchasing the correct items. Wearing correct uniform reflects our pride in belonging to Cockle Bay School and the high expectations the school has for its students. For safety reasons, watches and stud earrings are the only jewellery permitted. We ask children to wear shoes/sandals to and from school daily, and to change out of sports gear before leaving school as well. Board of Trustees By Elections As advised in our newsletter of the 23rd August, the Board of Trustees has decided to further bolster its ranks of parent elected representatives and will therefore be holding elections in November. We will be looking to add one further parent elected representative. This person will be a part of the board until full board elections are held in mid-2019. If you would like more information, please contact the Board of Trustees Chairperson This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . We will be calling for nominations in early October. The timeline for this By Election is below:
Bee House Our Bee House has arrived thanks to Howick New World! It is in the garden area outside the Lomas Library. Please make sure your children look at the bee house with their eyes, not their hands. We want the bees to rest and not be disturbed. Thank you to Howick New World for supplying the Leaf Cutter Bee House and Bumble Bee House. Thank you also to Sarah Laing for teaching us all about bees and why they are so important for our environment.
