Dear Parents, Welcome back everyone and a warm welcome to all the new families that started this week. I hope you all enjoyed the holiday break. The coming term will be a busy one, with our Athletics Day, Year 3 Day Camp at the Botanic Gardens, Senior Production, Fam-tastic Friday, Kotuku Camp at Willow Park and Year 6 Graduation all to look forward to. We would like to welcome back Mrs Lynda O’Callaghan who has started are latest Year 0 class. It is great to see Lynda back at Cockle Bay School. Thanks to the following team of dedicated Dads who worked tirelessly for two day making major repairs to the school playgrounds - Phil from Superior Construction, Grant from Ashton Build Ltd, Lyall from Total Property Worx and Dean. Their hard work and dedication to improving our playgrounds making them safer for our children is greatly appreciated. During the holidays we also had part of the school painted and some of the playground surrounds replaced by the caretakers, Nick and Don. Special thanks to Rachael Jeffs and Andrew McCully who recently took a group of senior students to Waitangi; Marie Todd, Jelena Vladic and Brendan Jones for escorting some of our students to Wellington during the holidays; and to Jenn Kerr-Bell, Jane Ginders, Rachael Jeffs and Julie Schoeman for taking our Mitcham exchange group to Melbourne, also during the holidays. I would also like to acknowledge the generosity of the Eliahu family for regularly supplying the school with “Danny’s” pita bread products which are used to make lunches for those children who have forgotten to bring their lunchbox.
