The school is managed by the Board of Trustees, an elected group of parents/caregivers.
All parents/caregivers are able to vote for these members when an election is held, usually every three years. The school keeps an electoral roll of all eligible voters. The Principal and staff representative represent the staff members.

I have a son in year five and a daughter in year two so will be associated with the school until the end of 2020. Coming from a marketing background, my work roles have most recently been General Manager positions with my career to date in the automotive industry. I have broadened my abilities through both education (BMS from Waikato and MBA from Otago) and on-the-job experience and now have a wide range of skills. I particularly enjoy my Finance Subcommittee role. ![]() Vanessa Bentley I have been associated with Cockle Bay School for the last 15 years. 12 years as a teacher (8 in a Team Leadership role) and as the mother of Patrick Casey (now in his first year of Engineering at Auckland University). For the past 2 1/2 years, I have been the Assistant Principal at Oranga School in One Tree Hill. My Daughter Emma is now in Year 2 at Cockle Bay School. At Oranga School I have school-wide responsibility for Mathematics, eLearning, the Gifted and Talented Programme and oversight of the newly graduated teachers. I am also currently participating in the National Aspiring Principals Programme.

I am a father of four CBS children, from New Entrant to Year 6, so have a vested, personal interest in the long term success of the Board and the School. With my wife I currently own and operate a group of childcare centres and have done so for over 10 years. This as given me first-hand experience of the New Zealand Education system. Whatever we do and say in our business, it is in answer to one very simple question. "What is in the best interests of the child?" I hope to bring this thinking to the Board. I am a firm believer in supporting every child to be the very best version of themselves they can possibly be. As a father of four children I have four very different little people with very different interests and very different personalities and abilities. We should celebrate every child being a unique character with their own knowledge and skills. I believe this means the CBS Community of Parents, Educators and BOT working in partnership to provide a holistic learning environment that enables every child to fulfil their own potential. Jo Curwood (Co-opted) I have been on the Board since 2008. I currently head the hard working Policy Subcommittee. I have a Bachelor of Education and work part time as a release teacher at Cockle Bay School, a job I love. My husband Mike and I have three wonderful daughters. Our two eldest both went through Cockle Bay and now attend Howick College. Our youngest is in Year 6. Shaun Galway I currently have one daughter Micah-Rose at Cockle Bay School in Year 4 and Eden starting in October 2017. My background has covered Marketing, Human resources, Health & Safety, and Adult Learning and Development. I have been on the BOT since June 2015 working within the Health & Safety Portfolio. My marketing started in one of the leading Children's educational publishing companies where I was able to work with many schools and governments in NZ, Asia around the products and taking them into schools. This was a very rewarding industry. My path then took me to Human Resources, Learning and Development and also incorporating Health & Safety, to where I am today. I am involved with a leading Risk, Compliance, Governance and Health & Safety Software Company working with companies across Australasia small business to 35,000 plus employees on best practise around current process and working with software to achieve positive outcomes for employees and for their Boards of Directors. I am very active enjoying cycling and being involved in Team triathlon events, as well as kayaking and snow sports.
I work as a cardiac Nurse Practitioner at Counties Manukau Health and the clinical lead for the cardiac nursing team offering a wide range of services to the community.
