ERO Report

An ERO Education Review is an external evaluation of the education provided for school students in all state schools, including integrated schools and kura kaupapa Māori. ERO review reports go to school boards of trustees and to the Government. They are publicly available on this website.

Education Reviews focus on school improvement, and ERO reports are designed to make it easier for schools to see what they are doing well, where they need to improve and what they should do next.

A key component of each Education Review is information from the school’s own self review. Each review begins with a discussion with the board to establish the areas of focus for the review, and the Education Review report reflects ERO’s evaluation of what is happening in the school in terms of these three strands:

  • school-specific priorities
  • government priorities
  • compliance issues
