What is a Kakapo?
Pronounced kah - ka - po

The kakapo is a native New Zealand bird. It is the heaviest parrot in the world.
The kakapo is nearly extinct, most probably since it can't fly. However, kakapo can climb trees!
Kakapo are fussy eaters. They like to roll up tussock grass and suck the juice out of it. They can also chew very effectively.
When it wants to groom its feathers, a kakapo will invade an ants' nest, letting the ants crawl into its feathers and carry away the dirt.
The male kakapo puffs up its neck and feathers and makes a booming noise to attract females.Learn more about the Kakapo
