Principal's Message 13th December 2017 PDF Print E-mail
Written by Merle Campbell

Dear Parents
I would like to wish all of our Cockle Bay parents, students and friends a safe and happy Christmas and holiday season and acknowledge the contribution of staff, parents and students to Cockle Bay School. The learning experiences and projects that have taken place this year could not have happened without a great deal of commitment and support from you all and I am privileged to be a part of a school with such highly capable, committed staff, and talented parents and children.

Over the holiday period, our school community is asked to keep a neighbourly eye on the school. If you become aware of serious risk to property please don't hesitate to contact the Police on 111. They will prioritise needs and respond appropriately. For urgent, but more minor damage to property, such as broken windows or glass, there will be caretaking staff (Don 027 492 2471) on site week day mornings or I can be contacted on 021 2433687.

The community is welcome to use the school grounds responsibly over the holidays. Only swimming pool key owners may access the pool.

Santa Parade

It was great to see Cockle Bay School represented in Howick’s recent Santa Parade. Thanks go to Sarah Laing for organising the event and to all who participated. It was a fun occasion.

Year 4 Camp

There were plenty of high jinks at the Year 4 Willow Park camp. Everyone was in good spirits, enjoying the hot weather and fun activities.

ICAS Top Marks

Congratulations to Daniel R (Year 4 Spelling) and Josephine S (Year 5 Digital Technologies) who were presented with gold medals at a ceremony at the University of Auckland recently for achieving the highest score in Australasia in ICAS.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Back To School - Thursday 1st February 2018 PDF Print E-mail
Written by Merle Campbell

Children start school on Thursday, 1st February

They should arrive around 8.30am, and bring a hat, morning tea and lunch, along with a swim suit and new stationery pack (see below). We recommend applying sunscreen at home before school and then children can bring their own in their bags (roll-on seems to work best and creates less mess).

It is normal for some children to feel anxious prior to the first day, and perhaps worry about friendships and the new teacher. How parents manage this is vital. Please reassure your child/children that their teacher/s will be fantastic and that he/she will look after them just as you do. Teachers do support children to make friends in their new class and teach new routines so that everyone feels secure.
