Cockle Bay School on top of Rangitoto! As part of our school’s Infusion Learning topic ‘An Absolute Blast’ a very special school trip was planned to Rangitoto Island. The trip was planned over 2 days at the end of October, using the Sealink ‘Sea Cat’ to get us there. A total of 862 people got to the summit of Rangitoto! We are proud to say that all our students from New Entrants to Year 6 and all our Staff (including Administration staff) participated. The 2 days were so amazingly different - we had a warm sunny day and a misty cold day - the students experienced Rangitoto in all four seasons! It took us just over an hour to reach the summit. The Year 5 and 6 students made an exciting detour to the lava caves. We were fortunate to have a helicopter photograph us on top of Rangitoto, Thank you to Grant Heim from Infa Red Ltd for this generous gesture. Thank you also to all the wonderful parents who came along as helpers – you did a fantastic job! The learning experience was invaluable to our students and it was well worth the effort to organise it.
