Congratulations to Frannie A on her achievement of being selected to represent her zone at the APPA Speech Festival Champion of Champions Contest. She is one of the estimated 1500 participating children, so this makes her one of the champion speech presenters in our schools! An interview with Frannie A. Reporter: How do you feel about winning? Frannie: Very happy and quite surprised. Reporter: What were you thinking when you were speaking? Frannie: I was hoping that I wouldn't forget anything. Reporter: Which competition was scarier, our school's or the Eastern Zones'? Frannie: They were both scary, but the school competition probably because I forgot a line. Reporter: Do you think you have a future in speaking? Frannie: Maybe, but I also like writing. Reporter: Why did you choose this topic - Coming To NZ? Frannie: Because I was there so I had a lot to talk about, and I could really relate to it. Frannie was the second person in our school to go to the Auckland finals. She will be competing at Ponsonby Primary School on the 11th of September. This is the first time in a while that a year five has represented our school at the Eastern Zone Speech Competition. Frannie's parents say that they were really nervous while the judge was describing the winning speech. “My heart was beating really fast, and I was getting goosebumps.” Frannie will keep the cup for a year and will soon get her name engraved on it. Her speech is a touching and funny talk about her trip to New Zealand. She will hopefully say it to us at our next assembly. Good luck to Frannie!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() Reporters and Photographers: Joy B & Jesscia R |
