Weetbix Tryathlon PDF Print E-mail
Written by Liana S

On Wednesday 7 December, 30 Cockle Bay School students competed in the Manukau Weetbix Tryathlon.  Despite the bad weather in the morning, all competitors had a great time.  The tryathlon consisted of three events - 100m or 200m swim, 4km or 8km bike ride and a 1.5km run.  It was a very successful day, bringing home $500 worth of sports equipment for the school.  We all got a medal in recognition of our hard work.  We even got to meet some celebrities including Temepara George, Cameron Brown and Anna Scarlett.  It was a very tiring day and I'm sure that all competitors slept well that night!

Children are required to wear correct school P.E. uniform to run in. Year 1 and 2 students can come to school in their running clothes. But will need their school uniform to change into after lunch. They will not be able to run in school uniform. We advise that the children run in bare feet or old running shoes as they will get muddy.  Please note that the times given for races are a guide as the next year level will not start until the runners are all back from the race before.

Cross Country P.E. Lessons PDF Print E-mail
Written by Jessica W (Web Wizard)

Cross Country is coming up, so Mrs. Jeffs thought we'd better start training.  She has come up with a fun and exciting activity. During P.E. lessons there is a Cross Country rotation for everyone to take part in.  It includes climbing up tyres, running up and down steps, and best of all, hurdles!  This is makes a pleasant change from the old way, which was just running laps - it raises your fitness level! We'll be well ready for Cross Country this year!

Tabloid Sports PDF Print E-mail

On Thursday the 14th July the whole school was involved in a tabloid afternoon.  The children were paired with their buddy classes and enjoyed an afternoon of fun relays using sports equipment in different ways.  Due to the weather we had to adapt and use the hall instead of the field.  The children all had a great time and worked well together in the confined space.
