Dear Parents and Whānau,
Tālofa lava!
Samoan Language Week
Next week is Samoan Language Week. The 2025 theme, “Ia malu lou sā. Folau i lagimā – A well-grounded self is a successful self,” aligns beautifully with Cockle Bay School’s values and our 4Cs. It encourages self-growth (Continuous Improvement), respect for identity (Caring), shared journeys (Collaboration), and cultural pride (Celebration), all of which we proudly nurture in our school community.
To our Samoan families… Manuia le Vaiaso o le Gagana Samoa – Happy Samoan Language Week!
Celebrating our Learning
It’s been a busy and exciting time at school. A heartfelt thank you to all our whānau for getting behind the Book Character Parade and Book Fair – your involvement helped make both events a great success. If you haven’t already, please head to Kindo to complete payment for the author visits. Your help with this is much appreciated.
With National Young Leaders Day, author visits, and the Year 2 trip to Kelly Tarlton’s now complete, we’re looking forward to more exciting learning experiences, including zoo trips, and the upcoming Hockey and Rugby Field Days.
A special thank you to Mandy Fischer for her fantastic work in organising the Barbarians Fun Day. It was a wonderful event for everyone involved.
Teacher Only Day – Focus on Mathematics
On our upcoming Teacher Only Day (TOD), staff will be focusing on implementing the new curriculum into our teaching and learning programmes. We will soon be welcoming the National Accelerating Learning in Mathematics (ALiM) coordinator for a scheduled visit. She is observing how this initiative is delivered at Cockle Bay School – an honour that reflects our exemplary practices.
Thank you to all staff involved for your ongoing learning and commitment.
